The 18-meter models feature the most powerful batteries, with a capacity of up to 700kWh, designed to support the bus’s larger size and higher passenger capacity. For smaller urban routes, the 8.5-meter models include a 266kWh battery, ideal for more compact routes.
The BC5 battery systems utilize high-energy-density Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cells, which are known for their ability to provide ultra-long life cycles. These cells not only ensure that the buses can run for longer periods before needing to be recharged, but they also help reduce the overall maintenance and operational costs, making these buses a cost-effective and sustainable choice for public transport operators.
In addition to its battery-electric models, CaetanoBus has also introduced the H2.CityGold, a hydrogen-powered bus. These buses are equipped with Toyota’s Fuel Cell Stack Generation 2.5, which provides 70 kW of power, offering an efficient alternative to traditional diesel-powered buses. The hydrogen-powered buses also feature an onboard battery pack supplied by CATL, with up to 130kWh for the 12-meter buses and up to 170kWh for the 18-meter versions.

This system controls the drive motor, generator, oil pump, air compressor, DC/DC conversion, and high-voltage power distribution. The integration of these functions into a single system not only improves the performance of the buses but also reduces the need for separate components, making the buses lighter and more reliable.
